Will CCSVI become extinct? #MSBlog #MSResearch
“CCSVI continues to trend downwards. It’s so interesting studying social phenomena, such as CCSVI, using the Google Trends tool.”
“CCSVI is behaving like an infectious disease with an epicenter, in fact two epicenters, that spread and contract. Recent scientific findings, the equivalent of a vaccine, have lead to a dramatic waning in the number of new infections. The real question is whether or not CCSVI will become extinct?”
“The concept of a social construct behaving like and infectious agent is not new and there is a large literature on the topic. In this context CCSVI can be referred to as a meme; a meme is “an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.”

Are there any current papers from vascular biologists or surgeons expressing their opinions on CCSVI? It would be interesting to get their perspective on vascular morphology and neurodegenerative disease.
I know that the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe made the following statement in 2011: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs00270-010-0050-5
Thanks…….."high vascular variability in patient anatomy". It seems that the consensus is that CCSVI is not causative. Jury still out on contributing.
Whoa there, Anon 4:42:00. I'm not a fan of her either but there's no need for such harsh words. I really don't think she has any idea what's she doing (obviously she has never taken a philosophy course). But I wouldn't worry, science is on our side, my friend. That and karma. 🙂

What kind of idiot wrote that? The recent studies are b bull and the wording of the…"article" is grade 5ish.~Gerry~
Prof G wrote this article does thatmake him about ten?
I like the idea of CCSVI being a meme is great; it looks like it can't be anything else as the latest evidence suggests it does not exist as a real entity. The way the CCSVI community behaves I would suggest we refer to it as a religion or faith; a belief system that cannot be supported by science.
CCSVIC chronic cerebrospinal veinous insufficiency cult
